As someone who mained ast for a couple expansions. I hate these changes. 1 dps card and 2 tank cards each draw. I hate it so much

honestly the most difficult part for me to grasping Sage has been that every single ability seems to be a healing and mit ability. knowing which one to use when and why has been what's held me back from using it. I'm gonna try the stuff you mentioned in this video, I appreciate having some sequence of things to do even if your pronunciation of the skills made me want to die inside 🤣

Disclaimer: my personal opinion. I wish that Energy drain was removed and Baneful impaction replacing energy drain as an aetherflow spender. To balance it out, maybe reduce the uptime from 15 to 10 seconds, or nerf the Potency slightly down to like 120 or even 100 per tick, and it would be a way better and more fun way of spending Aetherflow, while having the option to uptime the Debuff on single target, or having more options on when to use it, like in Dungeons or any content where you deal with a good chunk of Mobs. For how its in the game right now, it doesnt make a lot of sense to me, if it was a very strong single target debuff, then obviously it would be well reserved for things like Bosses or strong Mobs where you could throw it on, but its an AOE debuff ability, locked behind a 2 minute single target debuff, which is just badly designed in my opinion.

So is the main issue that Philosophia is underwhelming?

Love your videos, but still waiting on that WHM analysis. I think this is two DT videos now where you've said the next healer to look at is WHM and that's then.... 😅

Recit+adlo on every pull in a dungeon is questionable if the group DPS is high. Sometimes things move in just under a minute per pull. That being said with a swift cast, you can weave it in late.

Hi, sorry what do you mean by Celestial Opposition being one of the skills that need to be planned for optimal use? I generally use it as an immediate placeholder for a big raidwide if I don't have star or horoscope up, then I follow it with Helios. What would be a better way to utilise it please? I'm still upset that philosophia, SGE's "aoe kardia" is a big cooldown rather than their go-to aoe heal (speaking of job identity, not potencies)

Damage clears content. Not single target ogcd shields and regens. We had it all now we have nothing.

So, I started playing in HW, and I was an Omni-Healer by the end of SB, though I mostly played WHM and considered that to be my main. I then proceeded to main WHM all the way to the end of ShB. In Endwalker, they came out with M-Viera and Sage, and I decided I would pick up SGE cause it seemed like fun, and I liked the aesthetic, plus I was like "New race, new job!" I loved Sage, and mained it for all of Endwalker, however towards the end I was thinking it might be nice to pick up my old friend WHM again for Dawntrail. It was the Job I identified with the most after all, and it had been with me through so many cannon events. Then Dawntrail came out. I saw the changes they were making for both SGE and WHM, and at first I was excited! Then I saw the changes for AST and SCH, and I was a little less excited for the changes to SGE and WHM, but more excited for the state of healers overall... that is... until I got my hands on all of them... When I got SGE to level 100, and got the capstone spell... Philosophia, it... it felt underwhelming... I felt jipped honestly... And the more I looked into the changes to WHM, the less excited I was to play that, I keep hearing it's not balanced well and it's the poorest performing healer of the four. Then I started leveling AST, and while I love the changes to that, (since they feel closer to what the HW cards were like, and I was one of the people who didn't complain about the cards in HW and loved the card system from back then. ) I felt the job was TOO good... I haven't hit level 100 on it yet, but directly comparing it's leveling through dungeons to the same experience on SGE, I feel like I actively used more of my kit on SGE in the same content... On AST I feel like I'm not even using a fraction of what's available to me and even the card system which I was excited for originally... the utility cards feel like they are either useless or just get defaulted to the tank either before a tankbuster or before the draw skill comes off CD. I feel like there's no card I can use for my own benefit, (like HW Ewer.) Unless I'm reading the tooltips incorrectly. They are all better given to other jobs, like melee or ranged dps, or the tank. It's honestly just frustrating, I got so frustrated that in the last boss of the level 93 dungeon I said 'Watch how broken this is...' I proceeded to just stand in aoes and pop cooldowns on myself and just completely ignore mechanics all while still healing the party and dpsing... I felt disgusted with both myself and the devs after that. *TLDR:* I feel like for the first time ever since I first began my MMO Journey as a 13 year old boy, playing WoW in 2005 I may need to retire my healer badge and become a DPS main, either that or just step away from the game until the Devs manage to rebalance the healers properly so that they're all equally fun to play while still keeping to their own job fantasy. 😮‍💨

I think the changes are better moving forward. This way they can focus on other things instead of the RNG clunky card system that is terrible to use. Espacially on controller. Sure pro astro players might miss it but it will make the job more accessable for most players.

I feel like sages mobility is understated. In high level content, never having to stand still to heal OR deal damage feels invaluable. Or course, it’s always been this mobile, that’s not new, but it’s still for me what makes sage really stand out.

Also will you be touching on Double Shielding in your experience in M1-4S, job values for the fights (Eg, value of Macrocosmos on Phonix to negate a whole mechanic). It feels busy and refreshing to have multiple things to juggle. The "Delayed" abilities are a ton of fun. Big fan of the rework!

Hey momo, I just got my first extreme clear in ff14 on ex1 as sage, but I’m gonna be honest it felt like I got carried, I know the mechanics but I always feel like I’m out of cooldowns and not making the most of them when I do have them. When I played with friends they said they always felt they were taking more damage then they should, I thought if I could get the clear by then I’d have a better idea on what to use when, but I still feel as clueless and out of mana and cooldowns as ever. Using ex 1 as an example are there any pointers you can give me for sage that I can incorporate into my prog for future clears?

I really like the cards. I hated the solar, lunar and celestial sigil mechanic from ShB and EnW. I get probably from a meta perspective having every card be a "put this on the dnc partner" card made it simpler, but having some of the cards be the AST personal resource again feels better to me. Bonus points, the same target can have more than one card effect on a themselves now without it overwriting another card effect. It makes the cards less stressful for when I found myself paired with another AST for whatever reason. But I'm surprise there's more negativity towards the cards now that they removed rng and gave each card a different effect.
